Ever wondered how the principles of death and rebirth work.  What rules govern the "Book of Accounts of Man's Karma? Who maintains the accounts book? Well, in this article, we will discuss this in detail. Yamaraja , the god of death, states that the body has two parts, the Soul and the Body. The soul is immortal and is surrounded by the flesh, the mind, and the memories. Only the body dies which acts as a vessel for the soul. Death happens when Yama-dutas, messengers of Yama, drag the soul out of the body. During this time, the body becomes unresponsive to all worldly stimuli and starts to decay, which in response, the body is cremated. During the funeral ceremonies, the relatives of the body encourage the soul to travel to the land of death, where God Yama rules and Pitr resides. Yama is the ruler of the dead. He moves toward all creatures from the day they are born. He determines the future circumstances of the life of all the creatures based on the records of past deeds.  P...

Brahma Creates the Universe

We often find questioning ourselves, What was before this universe? How the universe was created?   Well, In the beginning, there was the Parabrahman,  the supreme principle that had no beginning and no end. The absolute reality that was timeless and boundless, self-created and self-contained, had no form nor was formless, a pure consciousness beyond the reach of thoughts and senses. After the Parabrahman willed it, the creation of the material universe began. This will of the Parabrahman produced a vibration called OM , which was the first sound.  Maha Tattva , or the primary element was first to form, from which 3 gunas or attributes originated. They were- Sattva Guna denoting preservation Rajas Guna denoting action, and  Tamas Guna denoting destruction The interplay between these three gunas brought forward the Pancha Tattva ,   or the five physical elements, i.e., Air, Water, Earth, Fire, and Ether. Hindu Mythology - An introduction

Nearly 16 years ago, my mom was watching TV. I sat with her and asked, " Ma, What are you watching ?". She said, "I'm watching Mahabharata."  "What's that ?" I asked. "It's our ancient Indian epic saga about two families - The Pandavas and The Kauravas who fight for the throne of the kingdom Hastinapur  and represent struggle and truth about life," my mom answered. And that's how my interest arises in my Sanatana Dharam. At that time, I was a mere child, but somehow it captivated me so much that I wanted to learn more about it. At that time, I didn't know how to get sources for this, for I was just 7 years old, so I depended on serials as well as my mom's telling.  Now, since I have numerous sources, I want to start my little journey of knowing and studying about my religion and sharing the same with you all.
